Are you looking for ideas to decorate your life skills classroom? You are in the right place! It can often be very challenging to find age-appropriate and meaningful. Below, I will share some examples of real world decor that would be a perfect addition to any life skills class!
LIFE SKILLS WORD WALL
Functional vocabulary is a key component of a good life skills curriculum. Help your students familiarize themselves with these words with a life skills word wall! This download comes with a variety of words, and has editable tags so you can target instruction for specific lessons you are teaching in your class as well!
INTERACTIVE BULLETIN BOARDS
These bulletin boards come in a large variety of themes that can be changed every month of the school year! Each activity has students practice important functional reading, math, and job skills to supports students' independence outside of the classroom. The bulletin boards are a great way to get hands on instruction and get kids more engaged with their learning.

KITCHEN SAFETY POSTERS
Cooking is an integral part of life skills. Adding these kitchen safety posters around your classroom would be an excellent way to visually remind students about kitchen safety.
LIFE SKILLS THEMES
Students love to see everything they are going to learn during the school year. I created a bulletin board and displayed all of the major themes up on it. It's a great way to visualize important life skills all in one area. You can have students even pick a "theme of the week" and focus on that to get students to choose their learning.
ID BADGE, JOB SKILLS BULLETIN BOARD
If your students go on job sites, you can display their current jobs with this ID badge! You can also use these ID badges to align with students' IEP Transition plans for post secondary education. By displaying their dream jobs after graduation, you can help to better align in-class instruction to support their future success as well!
CLASS SCHEDULES
Create visual structures and routines by making sure to incorporate class / school-wide schedules for easy access. I love to have our class schedules printed up front for students to know their daily routines.
DIFFERENT WAYS TO DISPLAY NUMBERS
I have noticed that many life skills students have trouble generalizing skills. I created these bulletin board numbers you can add to areas across your classroom for students to easily connect the different ways numbers can be subitized. Whether it is through money, time, tallies, or much more, these visuals have been super helpful for my students!
GAME OF LIFE
Another fun way to teach students about budgeting is with this Game of Life Bulletin board. It is a fun, visual way to remind students about all the things that go into real world budgeting skills. This can easily be made interactive too to help students practice deposits and withdrawals!
DISPLAYING STUDENT WORK
Additionally, if you have an empty bulletin board space, you can string some twine and use clothespins to display students' work as shown below:
Hope you got some inspiration for your own classroom!
