Life Skills - Job Skills - Resume Writing - Special Education
Many students lack the skills needed to write a proper resume. Even more are unaware of how much merit a solid resume holds in regards to the success of how well their job hunt will go. I created this PRINT AND GO download out of a necessity to help teach my students a very important life skill that often gets overlooked in classrooms. Even though this would work for any teenager, I use it in my special education classroom to get resistant writers to start the writing process on a more personal level.
This resume activity is strongly centered around the resume process for STUDENTS. I included questions that are relevant to them (ex: classes taken at school). This makes the activity so much more functional!
At the end of the unit, I love to print a finalized copy of each student's resume. I have included THREE different formats students can choose for their resumes. The students add them to their portfolios and I send a digital copy home as well. Many parents and students have gone on to say how helpful this activity has been long after they have graduated from my classroom.
