Life Skills - Online Grocery Shopping - Google - Math - Reading - Thanksgiving
With more and more shopping being done online, learning to find things to buy on the internet is a crucial skill that students need to be able to do on their own. Although in person shopping is a great choice for many, being able to navigate making purchases online is a key skill that this next generation of students will use in their day to day lives outside of the classroom. Help them practice looking for items online in this fun, guided scavenger hunt activity that provides them with specific ingredients to look for to prepare a Thanksgiving meal!
This activity is specifically formatted to be used with Google Drive and is compatible with Google Classroom. Google Drive is an amazing resource that many educators are now using as an interface to support 1:1 digital instruction in the classroom. I pair it up with Google Classroom (a free website) that allows me to digitally send each student in my class a copy of the worksheets that they later submit to me for grading. It is an amazing paper-free process and the kids LOVE working on these worksheets on the computer.
In this specific online activity, students will get to practice "shopping online" on Walmart's website for different THANKSGIVING themed grocery items. They will then be asked different questions about each one, helping them practice both their real world reading comprehension skills and technology skills as well! The whole activity is very user-friendly and links are embedded in the product for easy navigation. Students will learn to navigate search results to find things like prices, flavors, and other details to help them learn how to make meaningful "purchases"
