Life Skills Reading and Grocery Shopping: Matching Recipes to Grocery Items

This activity encourages students to practice their functional sight word recall in a fun and hands on way.

Students are given recipes with specific ingredients highlighted that they are asked to "shop" for. They have a bunch of random grocery items they look through to find the correct highlighted item. 

What I do is laminate all of the pages so they last a long time. I then do a scavenger hunt in groups and have students work together to find each of the recipe items. We even time each other to see who the "fastest shopper" is.

This download is great to teach students about differences in packaging for things like powdered sugar, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Many of my students struggle with these slight differences, and this purchase provides you with the natural opportunities needed to review these differences.
