In this set of GOOGLE SLIDES, students get to practice reading the CAPTCHA prompt and correctly identify the images from a field of 9 visual choices. CAPTCHA prompts are becoming more common on online platforms and are a great, functional skill for students to practice in the digital world that we live in. Students can use this activity to work on functional vocabulary, sight word recall, and text to picture correspondence to improve their reading comprehension skills.

A total of 50 CAPTCHA prompts are provided.

This activity is specifically formatted to be used with Google Drive and is compatible with Google Classroom. Google Drive is an amazing resource that many educators are now using as an interface to support 1:1 digital instruction in the classroom. I pair it up with Google Classroom (a free website) that allows me to digitally send each student in my class a copy of the worksheets that they later submit to me for grading. With this lesson, students are able to drag and drop images into their correct locations. It is an amazing paper-free process and the kids LOVE working on these worksheets on the computer.

❤️ How I Use This In My Classroom ❤️

This activity is very versatile and can be used as a whole group lesson, small group work, or independent practice as well. For a whole group lesson, present the slides to the class and have students take turns finding all the correct images for each prompt. This can also easily be replicated in small groups as well, with more attention given to crossing out wrong answers and explaining why they are not the correct choice. Finally, when students have mastered the basic concepts of this activity, you can have them practice it on their own independently.
