Life Skills - Road Signs - Driving - Permit Practice - Reading - Task Cards
In my secondary life skills classroom, I have noticed many of my students are intensely interested in cars and anything driving related. Many of them want to get their permits, but are unable to understand how to take meaningful information from basic signs that they see on the road.
I created this PRINT AND GO product as a necessity to give my students the much needed practice they need to gain a better understanding of road signs. Students are SO excited to practice their comprehension of road signs with these worksheets, and are motivated to improve their reading comprehension skills in the process as well.
This is an amazing purchase for any special education teacher who teaches teenagers. Even if students' skills would prevent them from actually driving one day, this content gives them the confidence needed to take the first steps to raise greater understanding of the world around them. By using a variety of actual road sign images and then quizzing students on the actual meaning behind them, we can empower students to want to learn and succeed out in the real world.
What is great about this download is that it comes already differentiated with TWO LEVELS of task cards for your classrooms. Level A assesses students with multiple choice questions to help with recall, while Level B tests students on sight identification of signs with no verbal supports.
How I Use This In My Classroom:
I laminate these task cards and assess students to start them on Level A or Level B. Students complete these task cards independently in centers or with staff/para support. We review together as a class and then students can move to the next level once they reach 100% mastery.
Purchase Includes:
- 34 Level A Task Cards (with three multiple choice questions on each card)
- 34 Level B Task Cards with same images but no multiple choice (for higher level learners)
- Level B Student Recording Sheet
Get creative and use these in students' IEP goals as well!
"By xx/xx/xxxx, Student A will increase his reading comprehension skills by correctly selecting the meaning of randomly selected road signs from __% accuracy to __% accuracy, as measured by classroom based assessments."
